The Rat Race:
I am not sure who symbolized rat racing with the corporate
ladder but he sure would have been an employee rather than a boss. Find out why:
Now, I say that because every other rat I have seen in my
life seems to run faster than the other one and life as we call it can be
defined in three phases of the amazing Rat race:
1.
The build up phase: Now all our school lives, we
live in constant pressures of relative performances since every parent wants
their child (read rat) to run faster than the one next door. Starting from
pre-school and perhaps till P.G. or Doctorate, the peer pressure is on a middle
class student is to run faster and faster.
2.
The Real Race: The students who do fairly fine
in their catch up phase now enter the corporate arena, which is like the checkpoint
of this race. Starting around early or mid 20s , this phase can last anywhere
upto 50 or beyond depending on hunger, skill and attitude.
3.
The diaspora or exasperation phase: This is the
phase where you have been there done that and have earned enough to feed
generations. The downside being that you may be the least likely person in you
family to enjoy with that money and so the moolah moves on.
The bottom-line that is driven in these
sentences of thought is that although it is inevitable to not be a part of rat
race since there is no escaping healthy competition, but at the same time it is
important to BREATHE. It is important to sometimes DO NOTHING. It is equally
important to make people in your life realize how much they mean to you. It is
important is have commas in the sentence of life since the crust and trough is
what makes the ride nostalgic. Success for me is a chutney of health, wealth
and family served to the senses delight. If any of the above goes missing or
lessened, the chutney would not be itself!!!!
